Actions to consider

Fidelity will transfer your Double Fine 401(k) Plan account information to the Microsoft 401(k) Plan after 1 p.m. PT on December 8, 2022. Here are actions to consider before and after the transition takes place.

Decide how you want your investments to transfer.

Your investments as of 1 p.m. PT on December 2, 2022, will transfer according to the Investment Mapping Report.

  • If you are happy with the way your current investments will transfer, you don’t need to do anything.

  • If you want your investments to transfer differently, you will need to actively change your current Double Fine 401(k) Plan account balances and investment elections for future contributions and loan repayments before 1 p.m. PT on December 2, 2022, so that your investments will transfer to the fund(s) of your choice. Of course, you can request changes to your investments in the Microsoft 401(k) Plan once the merger is complete, on or around the week of December 25, 2022.

Adjust your contribution percentage, if needed.

If you have a contribution election that is a flat dollar amount, not a whole percentage, or greater than 65%, your contribution will be automatically adjusted.

Under the Microsoft 401(k) Plan, your contribution elections must be whole percentages in increments of 1% and no greater than 65%.

If you are an active employee and you currently elect to:

  • Contribute a specific flat dollar amount to the Double Fine 401(k) Plan, your election will need to be adjusted to a whole percentage. If you do not make a change before 1 p.m. PT on November 30, 2022, your flat dollar contribution amount will be updated to a comparable percentage contribution rate of your typical per-pay-period eligible compensation, rounded down to the nearest whole number. For example, say your regular eligible compensation is $2,500 per pay period and you have elected to contribute $215 per paycheck to the Double Fine 401(k) Plan. Your initial contribution percent in the Microsoft 401(k) Plan will be 8% ($215 / $2,500, rounded down to the nearest whole percent).

  • Contribute more than a total of 65% of your eligible pay (through pre-tax and/or Roth contributions), your election will need to be reduced. If you do not make a change before 1 p.m. PT on November 30, 2022, your contribution rate will be automatically reduced to 65%, with the reduction occurring in the following order (as applicable): Roth first, then pre-tax.

  • Contribute to the Double Fine 401(k) Plan in any amount other than a whole number, your elections will need to be adjusted. If you do not make a change before November 30, 2022, your contribution rate will be automatically reduced to the nearest whole number.

If you are comfortable having your contribution percentage automatically adjusted, you don’t need to do anything.

Name beneficiaries for your Microsoft 401(k) Plan account.

If you have beneficiary designations on file for your Double Fine 401(k) Plan account, that information will not transfer to your Microsoft 401(k) Plan account.

Any beneficiary designations you made in your Double Fine 401(k) Plan account will not transfer to your account in the Microsoft 401(k) Plan. You will need to assign a beneficiary (or beneficiaries) for your Microsoft 401(k) Plan account once the transition is complete, on or around the week of December 25, 2022. To make beneficiary designations in the Microsoft 401(k) Plan, visit www.netbenefits.com/microsoft after the transition is complete, click on “Profile” at the top of the page, and then choose “Beneficiaries.”

Help ensure that your Microsoft 401(k) Plan account is secure.

Identity theft and fraud can lead to devastating consequences. Be sure to take simple steps to help safeguard your Microsoft 401(k) Plan account from fraudsters, including:

  • Enroll in Two-Factor Authentication for your Fidelity account, as well as your email and cell phone service providers, and any other accounts for which it is available. With two-factor authentication, you get an additional security check point every time you log in, or whenever you log in from a new device. Make sure your phone number is on file before you sign up. You can set this up through the Security Center on your NetBenefits Profile page beginning the week of December 25, 2022.

  • Call Fidelity and set up MyVoice® to conveniently secure and verify your identity based on your unique voiceprint—a combination of your physical and behavioral voice patterns. Call Fidelity and say “account access” when prompted, or your Fidelity representative will offer to enroll you—you’ll just need to provide consent to create your voiceprint.

  • Use a strong, unique password for your Fidelity account, and keep it private. Fraudsters often purchase compromised login details from the dark web and test them on various websites to find people who reuse credentials for multiple accounts.
